In April 2017 Christian and I got to pretend we were Anthony Bourdain for a day when a small crew from CNN Travel came on our signature Arthur Avenue tasting tour.
Though it was pouring rain, we still managed to visit many of our favorite shops and introduce them to our friends behind the counters at Vincent's Meat Market, Egidio Pastry Shop, Calandra's Cheese, Addeo Bakers and Mario's Restaurant.
A week later when the sun was shining, we shot some more including the footage of Anthony Ruscigno making his famous mozzarella in the kitchen of Joe's Italian Deli. Anthony's adorable children were running around as he did. I felt truly happy that this wonderful enclave of family businesses would get some well-deserved attention in the media.
The camera crew shot nearly 5 hours of footage that had to be edited down to just three minutes! Have a look at the final product below. We think it's pretty spectacular.

The video is accompanied by an article by Lilit Marcus which includes her own highlights of the tour. She noted how Diego at Calandra's Cheese is very generous with the samples and how no trip to Arthur Avenue is complete without a selfie underneath the "sausage chandelier" at Calabria Pork Store.
Here's are a few photos of scenes that didn't make it into the final video.
The exquisite pastries at Caffé & Gelato inside the Arthur Avenue Retail Market. Here's Pietro showing off a tray of fresh-from-the-oven sfogliatelle.

A chat with Gilbert Teitel at Teitel Brothers.
